Music in Salzburg

Famed as the birthplace of Mozart, concert groups are always warmly received in the city and a visit to the Mozart museum and his birthplace are recommended as excellent excursion options. Salzburg has a strong musical tradition and warmly welcomes STS's concert groups. Sacred choirs of a high standard may have the opportunity to perform a short recital in its Cathedral; during the summer, groups are allowed to perform in some of the main city squares and in the famous Mirabell Gardens. Performances can also be arranged in the lakeside music pavilions in Zell am See and St Gilgen as well as in the Parish churches of Flachau and Piesendorf. Most towns also have concert halls available for STS's performing groups. Choirs and orchestras are invited to take part in the prestigious international Salzburg Cantus MM Festival held each year at the end of June.
