If you students are studying the European Union then Brussels is an essential destination for a Politics study trip, with so many key institutions of the EU located in this city.  Firstly there is the opportunity to visit the European Parliament. This will provide your students with an informative tour and if the parliament is in session then also the chance to watch a debate. Furthermore if you contact your MEPs before you go then you should find that at least one of them will be willing to meet your students and discuss the workings of the parliament with them.

Then there is the executive of the EU, the European Commission. While it does offer general information sessions, more usefully if you contact them in advance they are willing to put on half-day student programmes with the excellent opportunity to meet and discuss issues with 2 or 3 commissioners.

Other EU institutions can also be accessed during your visit. The Council of the European Union offers talks and question and answer sessions geared to your students which last about 2 hours while not too far away the Council of the Region's is able offer somewhat shorter sessions on the role of the regions in shaping European legislation.
