MFL in Loire Valley

Located in the centre of France and referred to as the Cradle of the French language, the Loire Valley is an area where French is spoken in its purest form, making it an ideal choice for MFL students.

A verdant landscape bordering the Loire River, much of the valley is designated a World Heritage Site for its outstanding natural beauty and historic settlements. With an abundance of fine chateaux to be discovered, the Renaissance mansion of Chambord and the stunning Chateau de Chenonceau are some of the best known in the area. The regional capital of Orleans and the river-side city of Blois are popular destinations, and touring the region’s vineyards and sunflower fields is a highlight for many visitors.

Enable students to identify the fresh produce that has earns this valley its nickname ‘the Garden of France’. Visit Tours to fine tune your students pronunciation skills; the city’s inhabitants are recognised for speaking the purest form of French in the country. Students can appreciate a heroine of French society, as they learn about Joan of Arc in Orleans and about the Kings of France in Blois. Expand their vocabulary and test their comprehension skills in an exciting new setting, with a visit to the special effects theme park, Futuroscope.
