One of our most popular destinations, Normandy is four hours from Paris and within easy reach of the UK. Schools return time again to this classic French region, where MFL students can enhance their language skills whilst appreciating the region’s historic links with the UK.
With more than 300 miles of coastline, Normandy is well-known for its D-Day landing beaches, where WWII relics remain as a reminder of international warfare. Medieval towns, such as Caen and Rouen, provide rich insights into Norman culture, and historic Bayeaux tells the fascinating story of England’s 1066 defeat. The lush interior is responsible for delicious cheeses and the island fortification of Mont St Michel has contributed to the popularity of the region as a major tourist destination.
Students can shop for souvenirs and ask for directions as they navigate narrow alleyways and climb the steep steps of Mont St Michel. Your group can interact with the locals and order moules frites in informal restaurants, or ask for their favourite fillings in the region’s abundant creperies. Encourage students to apply their linguistic knowledge in new settings when they visit Monet’s garden and experience authentic Norman villages. Expand your understanding of Normandy’s long-standing relationship with England by visiting the WWII landing beaches and the Bayeaux Tapestry Museum.
Plus stay at our exclusive Château du Baffy which provides the perfect base for a tour of superb educational value and fascinating experiences.
