A truly French theme park, just 20 miles from Paris, Park Asterix offers a superb opportunity to apply linguistic knowledge in exciting and appealing settings, allowing students to enhance their capabilities by encountering unusual and interesting new scenarios.
Park Asterix has been a popular attraction for French and overseas visitors since it first opened in 1989. Divided into five different worlds, visitors can learn about key historical periods whilst experiencing fantasy characters from the Asterix story books. Within these themed worlds, Gaul Land focuses on the Middle Ages, the Roman Empire gives offers a flavour of life as a centurion, Ancient Greece invites you to experience Mount Olympus, Viking Land introduces you to fearsome warriors and Travel Through Time offers an whirlwind tour of the ages.
Encourage your students to get to grips with asking for directions from Gauls as they navigate their way around the park’s rollercoasters and water rides. Perfect their listening and comprehension skills whilst they watch the Gaulish shows and performances at the dolphinarium. Add some historic vocabulary to their repertoire as they learn about Gallic culture, Trojan wars and the gods of Mount Olympus. Stretch their language skills further and find out more about French architecture by asking challenging questions about the renovation of Notre Dame de Paris.
