Southern Italy’s western shore is home to a picture-postcard bay, rich in historic and geographical marvels. Language students will be in full flow as they immerse themselves in the bay’s alluring local culture and discover its fascinating heritage.
The Bay of Naples is home to authentic Italian fishing villages, ancient relics, stunning landscapes and a fast-paced metropolis. Naples, itself, is one of Italy’s busiest settlements, boasting a World Heritage listed city centre and the biggest Roman architectural museum in the world. One of Europe’s most notorious volcanoes, Mount Vesuvius, is found on the bay’s central shoreline, with the immortalised towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum at its feet. The beautiful Island of Capri and treasured Amalfi Coast are within easy striking distance of the bay.
Students can absorb the energetic street life of Naples and shop for souvenirs in its authentic street stalls and animated markets. Perfect your communication skills, ordering Neapolitan pizzas in alfresco restaurants. Take a boat trip to the Island of Capri and appreciate the diverse landscapes of the bay. Encourage your students to build geographical terminology into their vocabulary base, when they climb to the rim of Mount Vesuvius. Your group can walk beneath the mountain to take an exclusive glimpse of early Christian Italy in the preserved township of Pompeii.
