MFL in Lake Garda

Located in northern Italy, within striking distance of world famous cities, Lake Garda is brimming with exhilarating attractions and natural splendours. This popular region presents a safe and exciting arena for students to hone their language skills and enhance their understanding of Italy’s varied culture and landscapes.

One of Italy’s favourite summer holiday spots, Lake Garda is bursting with water sports operators, ice cream outlets and some of Italy’s largest theme parks. Its shingle shoreline is awash with tourist beaches, secret coves and lively fishing harbours. Enchanting medieval towns, such as Lazise and Sirmione, dot the lakeside. Historic ruins are found in abundance, including the Grotto di Catullo; the largest Roman villa in Northern Italy.  Lake Garda affords easy access to many of Northern Italy’s prominent tourist sites, with Verona and Venice an easy day trip away.

Encourage your students to put their basic language skills into real life contexts as they order gelato in lakeside cafes and identify water sports and natural features within the landscape. Students can for directions in the narrow streets of Lazise and find their way to the thermal springs in Sirmione. Students should apply their language expertise in an exciting new setting as they experience music and magic shows in Canevaworld Resort, ride rollercoasters in Gardaland and walk under the waves in the Sea Life Aquarium.
