The resort town of Lido di Jesolo is renowned for its miles of blue flag beaches and excellent tourist amenities. Remarkably hospitable, Lido offers a perfect introduction to Italy and is a superb base for exploring the wider Veneto region or taking day-trips to Venice.
Growing from a small coastal town to a major holiday resort, during the mid-20th century, Lido has been successfully developed around the tourist industry, catering towards both Italian and international visitors. Its famously long beach stretches along the Adriatic coastline, backed by pine forests and lined with beach front hotels. An impressive schedule of events keeps visitors well entertained and Italy’s most popular waterpark draws day trippers from across the country.
Students can get to grips with basic language skills in the tourist friendly shops and interact with the locals as they order gelato. Enable your students to explore the wider region by taking a stroll towards the River Piave or visiting the town of Cortellazzo. Put your students knowledge of sports and natural features into everyday contexts, as they watch volleyball and watersports on the beach, take a boat trip into the Adriatic Sea or wander through the pine forests. Take a day trip to Venice so that your students can appreciate wider Italian society and cruise the canals. Employ their expertise in an exciting setting, as they ride the waterslides in Aqualandia.
