Rome was once the centre of the world’s greatest Empire and has the richest heritage of any city on earth. A visit to Rome is a wonderful opportunity to immerse your students in the classics and explore the ancient sites that once inspired great thinkers and writers of Roman literature.
Stride through the impressive structure of the Colosseum, a masterpiece of Classical architecture, the venue for gladiator battles. Visit the Forum which for nearly 500 years was the the religious, political and cultural epicentre of the Roman Empire and which has influenced many of our modern institutions. Study the reliefs on Trajans’s column depicting over 100 war scenes and understand what they tell us about Roman military operations. The strength and triumph of the Empire is epitomised in the Triumphal Arch of Constantine. See the Pantheon Temple and gain a better understanding of the religious practice of Roman Society. Students will be able to understand how the Christian religion evolved by visiting the Catacombs where persecuted Christian were buried.
Outside the city is Ostia, Rome’s ancient port, where the excavation site with its streets, baths, theatre, offices, warehouses, shops, inns, temples, synagogue and church allow for a better understanding of Roman daily life. A visit to the Eternal City will be a fascinating and memorable experience and a positive asset to your schools' Classics Department.

5 Days to Rome by Air
Day 1:
Travel to Rome by air; meet your transfer to take you to your accommodation. Time permitting, explore the local area.
Day 2:
Spend the day exploring the extensive ruins of the city including the Colosseum trajan's Column and the Forum.
Day 3:
Visit the ancient port of Ostia. Spend the afternoon at leisure in Rome.
Day 4:
Full day excursion to the San Callisto Catacombs and to Tivoli to visit Hadrian’s Villa.
Day 5:
Check out of your accommodation and meet your transfer to the airport for your return flight.
