MFL in Rome

Whilst benefiting from an exceptional Italian language experience, the capital of Italy introduces students to the history of Italian culture and the heritage of wider European society; an unrivalled cultural immersion opportunity.

With a history that spans two and a half thousand years, this city was the capital of the Roman Empire and a major European power. The immense stone Pantheon, Circus Maximus and legendary Colosseum are amongst Rome’s must-see attractions.  Close to the city centre, the Vatican City is an independent state ruled by the Pope and is home to some of the world’s most important pieces of Renaissance artwork; no visit here is complete without stepping inside the Sistine Chapel.

Students can window shop as they pass expensive perfumeries and exclusive boutiques along the Via del Corso; and order spaghetti and espressos in one of Rome’s classic cafes. Improve their understanding of ancient history and encourage them to learn new vocabulary as they enter the world of gladiator battles and Trojan wars. Students can brush up on Renaissance artists and develop new depths as they apply their knowledge of colours and everyday scenes to world famous artworks. Students will understand Italian society at a whole new level, from appreciating religion and culture in the Vatican City.
