MFL in Tuscany

This western Italian region communicates the true essence of Italy, with its harmonious blend of medieval hill top towns, stylish beach resorts and cherished cities of art. Tuscany offers a privileged opportunity for students to practice essential communication skills whilst absorbing the deep rooted culture of this region.

The birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, Tuscany has nurtured some of the world’s most prominent scientists and artists, from Dante to da Vinci. Its cultivated landscapes, of olive groves and cypress trees, were famously captured by the likes of Michelangelo and Raphael and remain a major source of inspiration to contemporary artists. Its urban settlements are as appealing as its natural landscapes, with Sienna, Pisa and the regional capital of Florence the most obvious draws. Equally appealing are the white-washed villages and smaller cities of art, such as Lucca and San Gimignano.

Students can identify key features of Tuscany’s landscapes, and enhance their communication skills as they tour the region’s vineyards. Buy gelato in stylish beach resorts and students can practice their shopping skills as they browse the art dealers and jewellery shops in Florence. Immerse yourselves in the rich culture of Lucca and Sienna and brush up on the Italian masters in the Uffizi Museum and the Chianciano Museum of Art.
