Kenya Tour

Kenya showcases some of the continent’s finest wildlife and richest tribal cultures. As East Africa's most popular tourist destination, Kenya offers a rich learning experience for school groups. Below are some of the delights Kenya has to offer our school groups.

Rift Valley Adventure

Pink flamingos and white rhinos. Hot geysers and soda lakes. Fossilised remains and prehistoric artefacts. Nearly extinct volcanoes and colossal craters. This 6000 kilometre geographic trench holds the secrets of human evolution and nurtures some of the rarest wildlife in Kenya.

See thousands of flamingos at Lake Nakuru National Park and look out for the rhinos that have been introduced here. Students will learn about botany at Lake Elementaita and discover Sirikwa Holes. Study a world famous Menengai Volcanic Crater, see the rising fumaroles and learn of the bloody Maasai battles that occurred here. Identify rare game at Lake Bogoria National Park or take the opportunity to experience a walking safari in Hell's Gate National Park. Visit Elsamere, the former home of Joy Adamson, and learn of the important conservation work that’s carried out here.

The Rift Valley presents a unique, educational landscape of anthropological, tectonic and zoological wonders. STS offer accommodation in hotels in Nakuru and Lake Elementaita. Both hotels have swimming pools, allowing student groups to make the most of exploring the raw African wilderness, whilst enjoying the comforts and amenities of restful accommodation.

Maasai Mara Safari

A lion’s roar and a hyena’s laugh, the might of an elephant and the grace of a gazelle. Acacia woodland and forested valleys, open grassland and seasonal rivers. Red Maasai blankets and rich African sunsets. The Maasai Mara is one of the most beautiful and most popular reserves in Africa.

Leave the capital of Kenya behind and pass through The Great Rift Valley to the Maasai Mara Game reserve. Sleep in a tented camp and hear the lions growl at night. Study the behaviour of wildebeest herds and look out for the elusive cheetah. Find the pathway of the Great Migration and tick off the Big Five. Recognise the fenced Bomas of the Maasai people, and understand how their culture has developed and adapted within a changing world. Compare the grassland plains to the beautiful beaches and colourful markets of Mombasa.

An outstanding and immensely rewarding opportunity for school groups to experience this breath taking wilderness, students will remember this trip for the rest of their lives. We offer accommodation in safari lodges, beachside hotels and authentic safari camps – for the most authentic African experience, we recommend the latter!

Marich Pass Study Centre

Thirty acres of virgin forest in an unspoilt corner of Kenya. Bush walks and hill treks, botany trails and game drives. The buffalo and bushbucks of South Turkana. The flamingos and rhinos of Lake Nakuru. The bustling markets of Marich, the ornate body-art of the Pokot people. The Marich Pass has some of the most impressive scenery and friendliest people in Kenya.

Journey through the Great Rift Valley and see thousands of flamingos at Lake Nakuru National Park. Take a photo as you cross the Equator. Arrive in Marich and settle into your forest home. Study the success of the irrigation project in Sigor, or investigate hydroelectricity at Turkwell Dam. Build up a sweat as you trek into the Cherangangi Hills, then enter the lush Wei Wei valley and cool off in ice-cold rivers. Meet the local people of Marich, and visit Pokot homesteads to ask about the corn and cows they farm.  Take a botany walk through the bush and study sustainable tourism in South Turkana National Park – a rich landscape of unique vegetation and wildlife.

Created by a former Geography lecturer, the Marich Pass Study Centre is a superb base for field studies, where spectacular learning experiences are woven into daily life. Sleeping in comfortable brick ‘bandas’, students will receive a full and genuine Kenyan lifestyle experience. A once in a lifetime opportunity for school groups, we are proud to be the only British school operator to offer this unique and rewarding package.
