Destroyed by the British in World War two, and painstakingly restored ever since. Famed for its fine architecture, delicate porcelain and ancient Christmas market. Home to the Kreuzchor Choir - one of the most celebrated boys’ choirs in the world. With its world-famous palaces and ornate Baroque churches, Dresden is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany.

Study porcelain, telescopes or zoology in the museums at the Zwinger Palace. Wash your hands at The German Hygiene Museum, or trace the history of gas power at the Dresden Energy Museum. Take a cable-car over the city’s domes and spires, or a Paddle steamer past the stately buildings that line the River Elbe. Sketch the dome of the Frauenkirche and pay your respects to the Royals at The Hofkirche. Study the events of the WWII bombings and ask why the city was formerly known as the Jewel Box.

Easily navigable by foot, or via the excellent public transport system, Dresden is a manageable city for school groups. STS offer an excellent choice of accommodation, in close proximity to the city centre. Students will be fascinated by Dresden’s history and resilience, which showcases an astounding example of successful, post-war reconstruction.
