The Spanish capital of Madrid is a city steeped in culture and history dating back to the 9th Century. As the opera thrived in Catalonia, Zarzuela, a Spanish lyric-dramatic genre that alternates between spoken and sung scenes, dominated Madrid’s vibrant music scene. More suited to choirs, groups have the opportunity to perform at the magnificent Almudena Cathedral and the ancient Basilica De San Miguel; the oldest church in the city. Possible venues also include the Iglesia San Jeronimo church and the San Justo y Pastor church.
