Maths in PortAventura

Stay at PortAventura's comfortable hotels and challenge your students to understand applied mathematics whilst having fun on the rides! Experience rollercoasters, water splashes, magical shows and the amazing new Shambhala, which is breaking all records as Europe’s highest theme park attraction.

Enjoy a day trip to Barcelona including a visit to the excellent Cosmo Caixa Science Museum where the mathematical principles of theme park rides are superbly explained in interactive detail. Explore the geometric properties of Catalan’s distinctive architecture, from the round arches of Tarragona’s well-preserved Roman city to the beautiful parabolic designs of Gaudi’s extraordinary buildings in Barcelona.

Calculate the heights, speeds and distances of some of the world’s most exciting roller coasters, conduct visitor surveys and collect a range of data to utilise back in the classroom.
