Geography in Geneva

Combine the advantages of staying in the sparkling lakeside city of Geneva with geographical investigations in the heart of the Alps. Geneva’s cosmopolitan atmosphere and attractively manicured parklands are a pleasure to explore. Consider the importance of war and resource conflict on a tour of the United Nations. The UN will give students the opportunity to discover how diseases are being combated and which strategies can ameliorate pressures caused by population growth in LEDCs.

Head for the mountains and the famous Mer de Glace.  Seven km long and 200m deep, the glacier snakes its way down Mont Blanc at the rate of over 100m each year. Enable your students to appreciate how human perseverance organised farming systems in the surrounding hostile environments.

Assess industrial processes and global interconnectivity of TNC’s at Nestles’ Swiss headquarters and visit the much smaller processing plant of the famous Gruyere cheese. Delve deep into the Bex salt mines to unearth how historically vital this commodity was in a time of limited transport networks. Cruise Lake Leman, ride on a funicular and visit the bottling factory of Evian, the world’s most famous water.
