Raise the benchmark of your students, by introducing them to the European hub of nuclear research. Founded in 1954, CERN is the world's largest particle physics research laboratory and home to a community of 8000 scientists and engineers, representing over 100 different nationalities. Through fundamental research into particle physics, CERN has made a major contribution to the understanding of our universe. Originally conceived to allow research scientists to share information, CERN scientist, Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web here in 1989.
Offer your most testing questions to the world's leading scientists and examine the success of international cooperation within the scientific community. Then head to the Alps to hop on a cable car up to France's largest glacier. Investigate the effects of pollutants on coniferous forests, explore issues surrounding hydro-electricity and discover salination processes on a descent into a saltmine.
