TS offers a new range of politics tours in the American capital...
This exciting, STS cross-curricular tour, based in Washington DC - with optional extension to New York via Philadelphia, will be attractive to anyone who wishes to gain experience and understanding of the contemporary American way of life. Intended to be accessible to smaller groups travelling with like minded groups from other UK schools and colleges it combines the advantages of a structured tour itinerary and an experienced tour leader with flexibility for each party leader.
For students of Politics and History, whether participating in a debate with a pressure group, attending lectures by American academics, meeting a Member of Congress or visiting the Supreme Court, students will have plenty of occasions to engage with the US political machine. The tour also aims to provide students with a historical perspective to modern day society and politics (for example through visits to museums like the American History Museum).
Geographers will have discussions with environmental pressure groups, visits to National Geographic and National History Museums and bags of opportunities for field study. Art specialist have a feast of galleries to visit - especially in the extended tour.
The accompanied tour follows a pre-set itinerary based on many years experience of what schools want, although groups are free to make their own arrangements with the party leader taking control.
