Politics
Studying Politics in the classroom is one thing but if you want to help your students develop real enthusiasm for the subject then taking them on a study trip is ideal. Not only will they be able to visit the places where politics take place but on many of the trips they should get the chance to meet and talk to people who are actually involved in politics day to day. If you wish to see independent learning in action then there is nothing like a group of politics students given the task of searching for and questioning politicians or their staff. And within the selection of study trips offered there are many opportunities for this to happen.
If you are studying the European Union or global politics then the EU institutions welcome school visits as do the Westminster and Scottish parliaments for those studying British politics. Many of them will tailor the visit for your particular needs. For those studying US politics you will be stunned by the welcome that US politicians and staff will provide for English students.
Key Study Areas:
- Visit both houses of Parliament
- Watch politics in action in a parliamentary debate
- Watch US Congress in action debating legislation
- Experience the White House and the Supreme Court
- Talk to lobbyists and investigate politics first hand
