A 5 day battlefield tour gives groups the opportunity to cover both the Somme and Ypres in considerable detail, whereas a one day tour is only suitable for schools in the South East of England who can reach Dover within two hours and wish to visit one area only.
A 3 day tour is a useful compromise for schools who are constrained by either time or budget, but who still wish to visit both the Somme and Ypres.

Location: Situated right in the centre of this small Belgian town. 7km North west of Ypres.
Facilities: An attractive restaurant and an area where project work can be carried out. There is Ten Pin bowling (pre-booking required, a supplement applies). There is an area with a pool table and video games.
Accommodation: There are 2 buildings with capacity of 65 and 75. Pupils are usually accommodated 3/4 to a room. All rooms have private facilities.
Meal Basis: Full Board.
Ypres
Compact Lodge in the Flanders Lodge Hotel Official Rating: 2 Star
Capacity: 140
Location: Situated on the outskirts of Ypres in a quiet district just 10 minutes by coach from the centre of town.
Facilities: The hotel has a modern breakfast room and bar in addition to a well equipped conference room, activity area and restaurant.
Accommodation: Students are accommodated in 4 bedded rooms, in the newly built wing of the hotel. All rooms are en-suite and have modern furnishings.
Meal Basis: Full Board.
Lo
The picturesque town of Lo is situated 25 mins drive from Ypres.
Official Rating: 3 Star
Location: A short walk from the centre of Lo.
Facilities: Dining room, lounge, TV area and function area. There is also a lift to all floors, a large garden and private parking.
Accommodation: The hotel accommodates up to 90 guests in 2-4 bedded rooms, with staff in twins. All rooms have private facilities, TV and telephone.
Meal Basis: Full Board.

Sample Itinerary - 5 DAYS TO YPRES & THE SOMME BATTLEFIELDS BY COACH
Day 1 — Depart school and connect with channel crossing. Visits en route subject to the location of your school in the UK, but could include the Yorkshire Trench & Dug Out.
Day 2 — Ypres. Visit 'In Flanders Fields' Museum in the morning, followed by an early lunch. In the afternoon visit Hill 60, Hill 62, Sanctuary Wood and Hooge Crater Museum. Following an early evening meal, visit the Menin Gate to hear 'The Last Post'.
Day 3 — Ypres. Morning in Messines and the Pool of Peace, followed by visit to Tyne Cot cemetery, Langemark cemetery and the Memorial Museum Passchendaele.
Day 4 — Depart after breakfast for The Somme. Mid morning visit to the Musee des Abris in Albert, Pozieres and Lochnagar Crater. Afternoon visit to Vimy Ridge and the Memorial De Thiepval.
Day 5 — The Somme. Visit Beaumont Hamel Memorial Park in the morning, before departing for Calais, the hype

Day 2 — Depart after breakfast for Vimy Ridge. Continue to Arras then to Beaumont-Hamel Memorial Park. This is followed by a visit to Lochnagar Crater and Memorial De Thiepval.
Day 3 — Ypres. Visit In Flanders Fields Museum. Continue to Hill 60, Sanctuary Wood, Hooge Crater Museum before departing for your return ferry to the UK.
