Berlin has a uniquely varied, rich and disturbing history from the Prussian kings to the Weimar Republic, the rise of Nazism and reunification. The capital of a reunified Germany since 1990, Berlin has undergone a vast transformation to reinstate the city as a modern international centre.
From 1961 until 1989 the city was divided by the awesome Berlin Wall, the great divide between the Communism of the East and the Capitalism of the West. The changing face of world politics was symbolised by the fall of this once almost impenetrable barrier.
A visit to this vibrant city brings many major events of modern history to life. Berlin is an exciting youthful city which can be experienced on many different levels exploring a range of educational themes.
