The friendly seaside resort of Noordwijk is situated close to the world-famous Dutch bulb-fields. It offers an excellent wide, sandy beach, a superb swimming pool complex, tennis courts, cinema, mini-golf and bowling. The colourful streets and promenade are lined with a good selection of attractive shops, many of which stay open late during the summer. Noordwijk is perfectly positioned for a full excursion programme, with both The Hague and the capital, Amsterdam, being only 45 minutes' drive away.

Towns & Cities Amsterdam - this beautiful 17th Century capital city is built on a network of canals, lined with gabled houses and trees. Visit Anne Franks House, the 17th Century restored home of the Dutch master Rembrandt and superb art museums - the Stedelijk Museum of modern art, the Rijksmuseum, and the Van Gogh Museum. A "must" is the Canal Cruise at a supplement.
Delft - the historic mediaeval 17th Century town is home to the world-famous Delft Pottery. A visit to a local pottery to see Delftware in production is recommended.
Rotterdam - the world's largest port, established in the 14th Century, with an impressive maritime past which can be explored at one of the museums. See an 18th century ship being reconstructed in Delfshaven (pre-booking required). The city has numerous other museums. Rotterdam also has a zoo with an oceanium and a tropical swimming pool (Tropicana). Superb views of the city and docks are available from the Euromast Tower.
The Hague Tour - begin your excursion at the Hague - the official residence of the Monarch, the seat of the Dutch Government and an elegant garden city of stately buildings, theatres, cafés and stylish shops. Continue next to Madurodam. Have fun with the inter-active models of key sites of the Netherlands, which trace an architectural journey in replica from the Middle Ages to the present time. Complete your day in the fishing port of Scheveningen. There is a 148 foot-high observation tower, and an aquarium to visit.
History Volendam & Marken - two fishing settlements where the inhabitants still wear traditional Dutch costumes during the tourist season. Marken is also home to Holland's most ambitious land reclamation project.
Zaanse Schans - restored and working windmills may be seen along with the house once occupied by Peter the Great. Anne Frank's House - the former hiding place of Anne Frank and her family in Amsterdam during the years 1942-44, containing exhibitions on the Nazi occupation of Holland.
Jewish Historical Museum - housed in a former synagogue, contains documents, objects and paintings relating to the history of the Jewish community of Amsterdam.
Liberation Museum 1944 - situated at Grosbeck in Gelderland, provides an insight into the war years in Holland.
Zuiderzee Museum - an open air museum showing how people used to live and work, featuring displays of traditional crafts such as clog making, period costumes and several centuries of fishing traditions.
Art Galleries & Museums Rembrandt's House Museum - an extensive collection of etchings by Rembrandt is displayed in the Dutch Master's former 17th Century house in Amsterdam.
The National Gallery & Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam - a collection of works by Dutch artists including Rembrandt and Vermeer. The Van Gogh Museum contains hundreds of drawings by Van Gogh and his contemporaries.
Frans Hals Museum - at Haarlem, houses a remarkable collection of works spanning the career of this important Dutch artist.
Kroller Muller Museum - situated in the Hoge Veluwe National Park, contains an impressive Van Gogh collection as well as works by Seurat and Picasso and sculptures by Henry Moore and Rodin.
Natural History & The Environment The Delta Expo - a permanent exhibition which catalogues the achievements in coastal engineering.
Horticulture - Aalsmeer, well known for its flower auctions, is the centre of horticulture in Holland. The Keukenhof Gardens in the heart of the bulbfields near Lisse, contain some of the most beautiful exhibitions of flowers in Europe. Broek, is the location for the unique floating vegetable market.
De Cruquius Pumping Station Museum - installed in one of the former pumping stations, it offers documentation on the evolution of techniques used in fighting the sea.
Rotterdam Harbour - a boat ride around the harbour and waterfront of one of the major European ports to see the docks and shipyards at work.
Scheveningen Sea Life Centre - a spectacular presentation of sea life from starfish to sharks at The Hague.
Special Interest & Crafts Cheese Farm & Clog Factory - watch the production of two of the Netherlands' most famous products. Both on the outskirts of Amsterdam.
Windmills - visit one of the many preserved examples in the area.
