Sample Itinerary - 8 DAY RIFT VALLEY ADVENTURE TOUR
Day 1
UK/Nairobi.
Your scheduled flight departs London this evening, arriving in Nairobi early the following morning.
Day 2
Nairobi/Nakuru.
Arrive Nairobi, meeet your Driver/Guide, and transfer along the escarpment of the magnificent Rift Valley towards Nakuru. Arrive at Greensteds School (school holidays only), located just outside Nakuru in the heart of the Rift Valley (see opposite). The rest of the day to unwind and recover from the flight. At Greensteds you might enjoy the excellent sporting facilities. At Elementaita, join the resident botanist for a walk around the lake.
Day 3
Lake Nakuru National Park
The Park is famous in particular for the millions of pink flamingo which live on the soda lake but you may also see rhino, buffallo, giraffe and lion and the elusive leopard.
Day 4
Nakuru Town, Hyrax Hill and the Menengai Volcanic Crater
A visit to the nearby market town and administrative centre of Nakuru. Continue to the prehistoric remains of Hyrax Hill. On to one of the Rift Valleys not-quite-extinct volcanic craters.
Day 5
Lake Bogoria National Park and Hot Springs
Lake Bogoria is particularly famous for its prolific bird life, especially flamingo. Game includes the rare klipspringer and greater kudu. The park is noted for its hot geysers which erupt continually at the lakes south shore.
Day 6
Lake Naivasha and Hell's Gate National Park
A day spent on the shores of Lake Naivasha, the largest of the major lakes in this region. Stop in Naivasha Town before further stops at the Elementaita Weavers' Craft Centre. Onto Hell's Gate National Park, virtually unique in Kenya as one of only two National Parks in which you are allowed to walk. Our day ends with tea and sandwiches on the lawn of Elsamere, the former home of Joy Adamson.
Day 7
Nakuru/Nairobi
Morning at leisure. Depart for Nairobi. Visit the Giraffe Orphanagein Blixen, just outside the city to see the work here and feed these enormous creatures from a tree platform. Dinner can be provided in Nairobi before boarding your plane for the return flight to London.
